After meeting with the team who founded this amazing project, U of M seniors Alix Gropper, Rachel Roth, & Ryan Walker, I can see why it was destined for success! This dynamic trio who all hail from the East Coast decided to fill a void that has been long outstanding at the university. Alix is a Communications and Marketing major, but when she couldn’t find the type of fashion or retail programs that fit her desires, she decided to create a forum to combat the issue. Her roommate Rachel came on board, along with (Alix’s/Rachel’s) best friend Ryan, and the three started enlisting other creative minds to join the cause. Five and half months later, The Michigan Fashion Media Summit (MFMS) was fully formed and building a following that took them all by surprise. The MFMS will host a sold out crowd at The Stephen M. Ross School of Business and, as media partners, Haute is will be onboard to cover the excitement and sharing of insights from the large pool of talented professionals that have been added to the speaker’s roster. Alix, Rachel & Ryan have had fantastic success getting top-tier industry professionals to join the summit. Some of their supporters and speakers include celebrity stylist and designer Rachel Zoe (Zoe filmed a ‘Ticket Release’ campaign on their website and social media channels @UMFMS), Gary Sheinbaum – CEO of Tommy Hilfiger Americas, Matt Guthartz – President of Steve Madden and Peiman Raf – Founder and CEO of Madhappy, and Edward Barsamian – Style Editor at Vogue.com, just to name a few. It may be too late to score a ticket to this year’s event, but rest assured because we plan on sharing the excitement via live posts and videos via Haute is TV. So count on attending next years summit! To check out the many incredible happenings, check out The MFMS website @ www.michiganfashionmediasummit.com
