Event sponsors are ITC Holdings, Lear Corporation, MGM Grand Detroit, CareTech Solutions, Ernst & Young, Plastipak Packaging, and Wealth Management Services. Apsey and Davidoff are receiving the Jeffery W. Barry Award for Educational Excellence & Community Service; Schafer is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award; and McNulty is being posthumously honored with the Walsh College Distinguished Lifetime Service Award. As the president and CEO of ITC Holdings Corp, Apsey is responsible for the strategic vision and overall business operation of ITC Holdings and its subsidiaries. Previously, she served as executive vice president and chief business unit officer, leading all aspects of the financial and operational performance of the company.

Apsey plays a key role in promoting economic growth as a member of the Business Roundtable – an association made up exclusively of CEO’s from America’s leading companies. She also serves on the boards of the Detroit Economic Club, the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, Business Leaders for Michigan, and the Board of Trustees for Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.

Davidoff is the managing partner of the Michigan practice of Deloitte LLP. He is the organization’s top leader in the state, overseeing more than 1,200 professionals based in Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Midland. In addition to serving clients in the marketplace, he is responsible for the strategy, operations, talent, and business development of the statewide practice. He is active on several boards, including Business Leaders for Michigan, Detroit Downtown Partnership, Detroit Economic Club, Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Chamber of Commerce, and the M-1 Rail.

Schafer, who earned a Bachelor of Accountancy from Walsh College in 1975, began his career at McDonald’s as a 16-year-old crew member in a restaurant in his hometown of Eastpointe, Michigan, and retired as the corporate vice president of worldwide development. He also served as the chief restaurant officer and senior vice president of McDonald’s China from 2004 to 2011. Schafer spent his entire career at McDonald’s and is credited with expanding its presence in China, including the use of drive-through services. He is also a winner of the McDonald’s Presidents’ Award.

McNulty joined the Walsh College Board of Trustees in 2001. During his tenure at Walsh, he served as the chair of Academic Committee and helped to lead the Executive, Finance and Planning, Investment, and Organization and Compensation committees. He was also a member of the Foundation Board.

His professional insight helped guide the College through necessary changes brought on by an evolving business climate, and his financial acumen proved to be a steadying force in an ever-changing economy. McNulty retired as the senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Henry Ford Health System in October 1999, after 18 years of service. He also established the Macke Group, Inc., a consulting company specializing in strategic support for financial and business planning for not-for-profit organizations. He passed away on Aug. 28, 2017.

“Leaders share core characteristics: integrity, courage, respect, and humility, to name a few. We are proud to honor members of the business community who embody all of these traits. They are leaders in their chosen professions, and they give their time and expertise to help build strong, vibrant communities,” said Marsha Kelliher, president and CEO Walsh College. “We are also honoring the memory of Thomas McNulty, a respected and integral member of our Board of Trustees. He gave so much of his time and talents to the College. He is truly missed.”
