Formed in 2016 by Cammy Cartier, Le Détroit Fur promises to be the next phase in luxury dressing.  States Cartier ” I wanted to create something fresh, upscale and rooted in our historical ties to France.” After all, if you recall your history, Détroit was founded in 1701 when Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac established a fort and settlement on the site now name Détroit which is the French meaning for the strait.  Derived from the narrow river that connects Lake St. Clair to Lake Erie in Michigan.  But enough about history let’s talk fashion, on a clear Friday night patrons, guests and friends joined Cammy to promote Le Détroit Furs; a consignment pop-up boutique inside the beautiful and modern Détroit Is The New Black Boutique at 1426 Woodward Avenue.

The energy is high, and the vibe is young, fun and oh so sophisticated.  Le Détroit Fur is the entrepreneurial spirit of trendsetter Cammy Cartier.  Cammy’s drive and determination were culled early in life while working for her families businesses and wanting to create a name in the world.  Having worked in many fashion related fields such as high-end jewelry sales for Wachler Estate Collection in Birmingham MI., representing Christian Dior LLC., and of course, Bricker Tunis Furs for which this is an offshoot to a younger more trend-centric clientele.

“My goal is to make fur fashions fun again” states Cartier.  I remember attending school and walking down the halls in a big fur coat and jeans.  I want to take fur to a more street-wear sensibility.  The kids are buying Balmain jeans and Givenchy sneakers so why not take fox or mink in that direction.  When asked about the future of Le Détroit Fur Cartier states “Definitely a bigger online presence for the purchasing power as well as all of the social medias to increase our numbers and the promotional aspect of the business.  I want to bring fashion and music together, and a sense of “Culture back to it.”
