A Week of Contemporary Fashion: SAKS 5TH Avenue
By Robere Lett – Publisher
If you didn’t get the chance to stop by Saks 5th Avenue at Somerset Collection last week, you missed a wonderful opportunity to visit the newly renovated 2nd floor. Throughout the week there were special events to highlight each day, from blogger and trend reports to a tropical swimwear fashion show. The new space is filled with amazing top designer boutiques and incredible cutting edge fashion, it was definitely a sight to behold. High-energy music reverberated from every corner, tasty hors d’oeuvres trays and drinks served the palette well.
I had a chance to meet and greet the beautiful and effervescent Nikki Braddock, Designer RTW & Contemporary Manager to get the scoop on all things contemporary fashion at Saks. The excitement around the redo has been sensational and according to Nikki, it has been a wonderful new opportunity to connect with the public and really brand the store as a go to place for the best in contemporary fashion. Having people come in and get an up-close and personal relationship with the store and it’s personnel as well as the clothing is key; as more and more people shop online for their purchases, it tends to lessen foot traffic to the brick and mortar stores and thus create a void.
Top models Tiffany Moore and Julianne Wilson donned some of the incredible designs a top platform podiums giving a 3-dimensional perspective for patrons passing by.
Designs from Stella McCartney, Bruno Cucinelli, Alice + Olivia and Elizabeth & James are all on display and available for purchase.
As a male shop-a-holic, I prefer to get up-close to my purchases so that I can feel the fabric, check the quality and coloration, hold things up to me to see if I like what I will be purchasing enough to take it home. But with all the great designers it was hard to select one area that I liked the most. If you plan on visiting the mall do stop by and visit Nikki and her fabulous team of personal shoppers and stylists. They will be more than happy to assist you in pulling together your wardrobe for the coming spring and summer seasons and beyond. As for me, I’m headed to the men’s department where I saw a few things with my name on it! As always, tell them Haute is… Magazine sent you!!!
