Frida Kahlo Hairspirations

For many, Frida Kahlo is a household name. She is most known for her amazing paintings that were rich in culture and meaning. Although this is true, not many know just how ahead of her time Frida Kahlo was in becoming a beauty icon.

Her fashion was colorful and eye-catching, while her makeup had pops of warm colors mingled in with a scoop of grunge. Frida has inspired many fashion and beauty trends because of her unique and vibrant style, but what about her hair? Today, Frida’s legend lives through a myriad of hair styles and decorations that can be spotted everywhere, bearing a true testimony of her heavy influence within the realm of fashion.

When you think of Frida Kahlo you most likely have this image in your mind: dark lustrous hair, vibrant and gorgeous flowers entwined in her braids, rosy cheekbones, thick eyebrows, and a red lip. On numerous runway shows, you can see exactly that – thick braids adorning the top of the head, large flower arrangements as headbands and multiple buns in the hair.

Frida had such a unique and feminine hair style that it isn’t uncommon to find photo shoots highlighting that. Even though it can look intricate or hard to mimic, here are some products and hair pieces that can get you closer to that Frida Kahlo look you’ve been seeking.

  • Better Braids Herbal Collection:  This collection is recommended for those who want the ultimate braid hold without the stickiness or flakiness and includes a leave-in conditioner, holding gel, hair and scalp oil, shampoo, and spray. better-braids-better-braids-herbal-9
