Haute Fit: The iPhone 6 Helps Keep You Fit!
by Damon Mackey, Certified Group Fitness Leader and Fitness Consultant
Today, most Android and Smart phones have fitness apps you can download to track your fitness activity to help you reach your fitness goals. While you can download most fitness apps for free, there may be a fee for the more sophisticated ones. Well, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has combined sophistication with health and lifestyle tracking capability. The app is simply called “Health”, and it comes with the iPhone!
I’ve never seen a fitness app this in-depth and savvy. The app not only tracks your fitness activity, but also monitors your health and the way you live; even tracing your lifestyle for the day, week, month and year. The health app keeps your contents through its dashboard, where you can store information on your fitness activities such as walking, cycling distance, flights climbed, running distance, resting and active calories. You can put away those pedometers and calculate your steps per day right on your iPhone.
Other key tracking features include body measurements, nutrition, and calculations on how much sleep you get and should be getting. The health app also keeps medical records such as your blood type, as it records your blood pressure, body temperature, heart and respiratory rate. Also, if you’re on a lot of medication, you can put away that pill container and load your medication right onto the health app.
This may seem like a lot going on with one app, but we have a lot going on with our bodies to keep it running smoothly. So next time you visit your doctor, you can tap on your health app during your consultation.
Though I’m an iPhone user, I’m not endorsing the iPhone 6. I’m just giving you tips on ways to get the most out of your phone, while taking control of your health. If you are an iPhone user, then you already know – an apple a day keeps the doctor away!
Remember, small plates and light weights.
As always, I welcome your questions and comments.
