Donna Karan’s New Capsule: A Pretty Pill to Swallow

Donna Karan launches latest capsule project via her philanthropic design outlet Urban Zen.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the iconic fashion designer has spawned the collection entitled ‘The Journey’ to be sold exclusively in her Urban Zen stores in New York.

Inspired by Karan’s ‘buy-now, wear-now’ philosophy, her proclivity towards earthy tones shows up here with a color palette ranging from  tan, bronze, sand and eggshell – to indigo and black, with many of the fabrics hand-dyed by artisan dyers, adding an extra touch of craftsmanship. The 40-piece collection dazzles with cross-seasonal pieces that will make a statement, no matter what the weather.

Even with her love of rich and sensuous colors, the designer stays true to every fashionable woman’s wardrobe staple,  ”Everything goes back to black, whatever the piece”, she says.

The full collection – which retails at around $595 to $995 for tops up to $1,095 to $2,695 for jackets – is available from the Sag Harbour store in east New York with a small number of pieces also available for the New York City store.

What makes this clothing line even more beautiful: Karan donates all proceeds from Urban Zen to charities such as Habitat For Humanity and Amnesty International.
