The Unlikely Return of Prince
Prince fans who are still holding their breath anticipating the release of his next new album will more than likely pass out before it happens, or either faint from disbelief when it actually does.
With two new studio albums sitting in the musical birth canal awaiting deployment orders, the legendary icon has a solo album – as well as an album with his band 3rdEyeGirl, in the works.
With no release date in site, Minneapolis Star Tribune recently had the privilege of listening to his latest effort and reported that the album will be a delicious concoction of new and old Prince material, including a remix of previously released “FUNKNROLL”. Additionally, a new song “The Gold Standard” will open the album with “an update of classic Prince.”
Making headline news earlier this year, the elusive entertainer deserted his $22 million lawsuit days after filing against 22 “bootleggers” who allegedly posted footage of his concerts online, as reported by TMZ. But in his usual revolutionary style, the music-wielding rebel made sure the suit is not without stipulations; he can refile the argument if and when it appeases him.
It is questionable whether Prince’s new music will ever see the light of day. Maybe he just gets a kick out of having an arsenal of unreleased music that will live long after he does. Let’s hope he proves us wrong.
